Senate-Seeking Cat Raises $6,000 for Animal Rescue Orgs
Hank, a cat from Springfield, VA, has run a vigorous campaign to get his name on the ballot for Senate this November. But he’s taken a break from his busy political schedule to raise money for charities close to his heart.
At a rally last week, Hank took photos with fans, held a raffle, and sold posters, T-shirts and cookies from the Sweet Ladies Bakery. 100% of the funds were donated to the Humane Society of Fairfax County.
According to a campaign press release, Hank has raised more than $6,000 for Virginia animal rescue organizations. You can visit his store for more Hank merch, where 100% of the proceeds go to the 4Paws Rescue Team.

Senate-Seeking Cat to Collect 10,000 Signatures for Virginia Ballot
Hank the Cat has faced some stiff opposition in his bid for a U.S. Senate seat in Virginia. But the independent candidate has garnered a massive following on social networks like Facebook, and hopes to parlay that into petition signatures.
According to a campaign press release, “While Hank is aware he is ineligible to be on the ballot in November, he has decided to collect the 10,000 signatures required and still file with the Virginia State Board of Elections.”
The release also notes that Hank has raised over $2,600 for animal rescue groups — one of his central campaign platforms. However, critics have been quick to dismiss the donations as pandering to the candidate’s base.
Submitted by Hank for Senate.

Post Office Raises Rates on First-Class Kittens
In a move most analysts have dubbed “inevitable,” the U.S. Post Office raised its rate to mail a standard kitten from 41 cents to 43 cents. With the rising costs of fuel and the ease with which cats can now be sent electronically, postal cat delivery may soon be a thing of the past.
Indeed, the USPS has even suspended cat delivery on Saturdays as a preliminary cost-cutting measure.
